• Curved rooflights – Curved rooflights have a rounded, arched shape and are usually constructed from aluminium with polycarbonate glazing. Thanks to their curved construction, these rooflights are very strong, provide effective water drainage and are particularly suitable for large roof areas. Due to the use of polycarbonate, their thermal insulation properties are generally lower than those of other types of rooflights with, for example, glass glazing.

   

• Ridgelights – These rooflights have the shape of a traditional gable roof, with two sloping glazed surfaces meeting at the ridge. This type of rooflight is often constructed entirely from glass or polycarbonate and gives a building a high-quality, luxurious and architectural appearance. The sloping sides provide effective water drainage and help wash away dirt. Gable rooflights can also be fitted with HR++ or HR+++ glazing, providing excellent thermal insulation and making them suitable for energy-efficient buildings.

   

• Pyramid rooflights – Pyramid rooflights consist of four sloping sides that meet at a single point, creating a pyramid shape. This type of rooflight is mainly used on flat roofs and provides high levels of natural daylight as well as a distinctive architectural appearance. Pyramid rooflights can be constructed from polycarbonate or fitted with HR++ or HR+++ glazing, depending on the required insulation value and appearance.

   

• Domes (dome rooflights) – Domes are round or square rooflights with a curved shape, usually made from acrylic or polycarbonate. They are a commonly used and economical solution for introducing daylight through flat roofs.

   

• Mono-pitch rooflights – These rooflights have one large sloping roof surface and are often installed against a façade or raised section of a building. They are ideal for situations where daylight is required from one side, such as extensions, offices or residential buildings. Mono-pitch rooflights can be fitted with HR++ or HR+++ glazing, providing excellent thermal insulation and making them highly suitable for energy-efficient and well-insulated buildings. They are also available with polycarbonate glazing.

   

• Sawtooth rooflights – Sawtooth roofs consist of a repeating series of vertical and sloping glazed surfaces, creating a sawtooth profile. This type of rooflight is widely used in industrial buildings, halls and workshops because it provides an even distribution of daylight without direct sunlight, thereby reducing heat build-up. Sawtooth rooflights can be fitted with HR++ or HR+++ glazing, providing excellent thermal insulation in addition to high levels of natural daylight.

   

• Specials (custom-made rooflights) – Specials are unique rooflights with non-standard shapes, such as round, polygonal or organic designs. They are fully custom-designed for architectural projects.

This includes not only the shape and dimensions, but also insulation values, glazing configuration, ventilation options and detailing, ensuring that the rooflight performs optimally in terms of daylight, energy efficiency and comfort.

For industrial buildings such as factories and industrial halls, an Arcolux sawtooth roof is often used. This asymmetrical roof construction allows plenty of natural light, particularly north-facing light, to enter without the glare or heat associated with direct sunlight, making it ideal for creating a comfortable working environment.

The difference lies in the shape of the roof surfaces. An Arcolux gable rooflight consists of two sloping surfaces that meet at the ridge, forming an inverted V-shape. A mono-pitch rooflight has only one sloping surface, making it ideal for installation directly against a higher adjoining façade.
